History
of Basketball
James Naismith a Canadian American invented basketball in
1891. James took a soccer ball and a peach basket into the gym to form a game
of basketball. The games consisted of nine player teams, and governed by a set
of thirteen rules. In the first game its said that only one shot was made by
William Chase. Basketball ball today is different from when it first started
because the hoop is opened instead of closed like the basketball net they first
used. It’s also not played with nine players anymore just five. Some rules
remain the same while others were changed.
